How much do travel vaccinations cost?

Travel vaccination costs vary depending on the vaccine required. Prices for common travel vaccines are shown in our travel vaccination price guide above. Consultation fees and vaccine costs will be confirmed during booking.
Are travel vaccines free on the NHS?

Some travel vaccines, including Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Cholera and Polio boosters, may be available through NHS GP practices depending on local availability. Other vaccines, such as Yellow Fever, Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis and Hepatitis B, are usually available privately.

How far in advance should I book?
Ideally 6 to 8 weeks before departure.

Serious side effects are rare. During your consultation, we will explain the benefits and potential risks of any vaccine recommended for your trip.

What should I bring to my travel health appointment?

If possible, bring details of your travel itinerary, previous vaccination records, a list of current medications and information about any medical conditions. This helps our travel health team provide accurate recommendations based on your travel plans and medical history.

Can you provide travel vaccination certificates?

Yes. Where applicable, we can provide vaccination certificates and documentation required for travel. This may include International Certificates of Vaccination for Yellow Fever and documentation needed for certain countries or pilgrimage travel.

Do I need malaria tablets for my destination?

Malaria risk varies depending on the country, region, season and type of travel. During your consultation, we assess your itinerary and medical history to determine whether antimalarial medication is recommended and which option may be suitable for you.

Can I get travel vaccinations if I have a cold or fever?

If you have a mild cold, vaccination may still be possible. However, if you have a fever or are feeling unwell, vaccination may need to be delayed. Our clinicians will assess your situation and advise accordingly.

Are travel vaccines safe?

Travel vaccines used in the UK undergo rigorous safety testing and monitoring. Most people experience only mild side effects such as soreness at the injection site, tiredness or a mild fever. Serious side effects are rare.

Can children receive travel vaccinations?

Can I get NHS travel vaccinations on a walk-in basis?

NHS travel vaccination services vary between GP practices and availability is not always offered on a walk-in basis. Many travellers choose private travel clinics when they need faster appointments, a wider range of vaccines or last-minute travel advice.

How long do travel vaccinations last?

The length of protection varies depending on the vaccine. Some travel vaccines can protect you for many years, while others may require booster doses. We can review your vaccination history during your consultation and advise if any boosters are needed.

What vaccines are required for Hajj and Umrah?

Meningitis ACWY vaccination is required for Hajj and Umrah travellers. Depending on your health, travel plans and vaccination history, other vaccines may also be recommended. We can advise you during your travel health consultation.

Do I need a Yellow Fever certificate?

Some countries require proof of Yellow Fever vaccination before entry. If a Yellow Fever certificate is required for your destination, we can provide the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) after vaccination.

Can I get travel vaccinations while pregnant?

Some travel vaccines may be suitable during pregnancy, while others may not be recommended. Our travel health team will assess your destination, stage of pregnancy and medical history before making recommendations.

Can I receive multiple travel vaccines at the same appointment?

Yes. In many cases, multiple travel vaccines can be given during the same appointment. Your travel health professional will advise what is appropriate based on your vaccination requirements and medical history.

Can I get travel vaccinations for multiple countries during one appointment?

Yes. If you are travelling to several countries, we can assess your full itinerary during a single consultation and recommend appropriate vaccines, malaria prevention options and travel health advice for your entire trip.

Can I get travel vaccinations at short notice?

Yes. Same-day travel vaccination appointments may be available depending on clinic capacity. While it is ideal to arrange travel vaccinations 6–8 weeks before departure, many vaccines can still be provided closer to your travel date.

Can I drink alcohol after travel vaccinations?

In most cases, moderate alcohol consumption does not affect travel vaccines. However, if you feel unwell after vaccination, it is usually best to avoid alcohol until you feel better.
